Highest-paying YouTube niches
Ranked by widely reported creator RPM with a Tier-1 audience. The order is really a ranking of advertiser demand for the audience, not of content quality.
| # | Niche | RPM per 1,000 views | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Finance & business | $8 – $20 | Banking, investing, SaaS and B2B audiences advertisers compete hard for. |
| 2 | Tech & software | $4 – $8 | Reviews, coding and software tutorials with strong purchase intent. |
| 3 | Education | $3 – $5.5 | Tutorials, language and study channels; steady but mid-value ads. |
| 4 | Lifestyle & beauty | $2 – $5 | Fashion, beauty, travel and daily life; wide advertiser mix. |
| 5 | Gaming | $1 – $3 | Huge view counts, younger audience, lower advertiser rates per view. |
| 6 | Entertainment & comedy | $1 – $3 | Viral potential, but general entertainment ads pay modestly. |
| 7 | Kids & family | $1 – $3 | Made-for-kids content has restricted, personalised-ad limits. |
| 8 | Music | $0.5 – $2 | Short watch time and rights claims pull the effective rate down. |
Why finance sits on top
A viewer researching a business loan or trading platform can be worth hundreds of dollars to an advertiser over their lifetime, so advertisers bid aggressively and creators inherit those bids. The trade-off is trust and compliance: finance content is scrutinised, slower to produce, and unforgiving of errors.
Should you chase the top of this table?
Only partly. A gaming channel with ten times the views of a finance channel earns more despite a lower rate — total income is RPM × views, and views follow genuine interest and skill. The practical move is to sit as high on this table as your real expertise allows, then maximise views inside it.
